As artists, we are acutely aware of the materials we use: brushes, paint, supports. However, we frequently neglect to consider the most important component of our work- our mindset. Everyday, I use the same materials (more or less), however my work varies greatly depending on how I am thinking and feeling.
In this episode I touch upon some tips that can help you bring your best self to the studio. It is a starting point, and the most important thing that you can do is to begin to become aware of how you are thinking and how it effects your work. How you think is a decision, and it is important to practice a healthy mindset as you work. Start noticing how you are thinking in the studio, and pay attention to what habits are helpful- and then do those things more.
I believe that art is about thinking. That what happens in the mind is more important than what happens on the canvas. How does your mindset effect your work? I'd love to hear about your experiences and what works for you.
